MANHATTAN, KAN. (AP) -Denis Clemente transferred to Kansas State after starting 15 games at point guard for Miami last season and drawing a suspension in February for violating team rules.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining starting with the 2008-09 season.
“He is a competitive young player that has an unbelievable ability to score and is fast as anyone in the country in getting the ball up the floor,” Kansas State coach Frank Martin said.
The 6-footer from Puerto Rico averaged 9.8 points while shooting 43.5 percent for Miami last year as a sophomore. He played in 27 games and scored in double figures in 11. He also averaged 3.3 assists. In Atlantic Coast Conference play, he averaged 10.5 points and 2.6 assists.
He’s the eighth player to join Kansas State for 2007-08 and brings the squad to the NCAA-maximum 13 scholarship players.
