COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -Missouri senior forward Darryl Butterfield was suspended indefinitely by the team Thursday after being arrested for third-degree domestic assault.
In a statement, coach Mike Anderson said he will seek additional information before making a final decision on Butterfield’s punishment. He is being allowed to practice with the team.
Reports say Butterfield was arrested after a dispute with his girlfriend. He was released by Columbia police Thursday morning after posting $1,000 bond.
He is the second Missouri player to get into trouble in recent months. Forward Kalen Grimes was kicked off the team after his arrest in July for second-degree felony assault after allegedly striking a man with the butt end of a shotgun in St. Louis County.
Butterfield, a reserve, averaged 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season for the 18-12 Tigers.
