WASHINGTON (AP) -Roy Hibbert scored 15 points for No. 9 Georgetown, including the only field goal of overtime, to lead the Hoyas to a 64-62 victory over Syracuse on Monday night.
Georgetown (15-2, 5-1 Big East) rallied from a seven-point deficit over the final five minutes of regulation then outscored the Orange 4-2 in a ragged overtime to improve to 10-0 at home this season.
Hibbert was left open for a 13-footer that gave the Hoyas a 64-60 lead with a minute remaining.
Donte Greene then made two of three free throws after he was fouled attempting a 3-pointer to cut the Orange’s deficit to two with 44 seconds left. Syracuse’s Jonny Flynn, who scored 24 points, missed a long, contested 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Syracuse (13-7, 3-4), which is down to nine scholarship players including five freshmen, has lost four of five overall.
No. 12 Texas 63, Oklahoma St. 61
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – D.J. Augustin scored 26 points and Damion James added 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Texas.
Augustin scored six straight points as the Longhorns (15-3, 2-1 Big 12) held Oklahoma State scoreless for a 6-minute span for the second time in the game and took the lead, then hit all four of his free throws in the final minute to keep the Cowboys at bay.
James Anderson had 17 points for the Cowboys (10-8, 1-3), who rallied from a 10-point deficit to take a 54-51 lead on Byron Eaton’s 3-pointer with 8:31 remaining but didn’t make another field goal until Marcus Dove’s layup cut Texas’ lead to 59-58 with 23 seconds left.
