MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -Kingsley Costain, Pepperdine’s top returning scorer, has been dismissed from school for a violation of university policy.
“It’s unfortunate to lose a player of Kingsley’s caliber so close to the start of the season,” coach Vance Walberg said in a statement issued Friday. “We are going to miss him and we wish him the best.
“We’ve been practicing hard and getting ready for the new season and we will have to find a way to overcome this big loss.”
Costain, a 5-foot-7 guard from Toronto, averaged 11.5 points as a junior last season. He finishes his career with 146 3-pointers to rank fifth on the school’s career list.
