HAMPTON, Va. (AP) – Vincent Simpson scored 18 points – all in the second half – and helped Hampton rally for an 87-72 victory against Norfolk State on Saturday night.
The Pirates (16-11, 9-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed 42-30 at the break, but shot 61 percent and outscored the Spartans 57-30 over the final 20 minutes.
Norfolk State (14-13, 10-4) got 17 points from Joseph Dorsett, 16 from Tony Murphy and 14 from Corey Lyons, but had 21 turnovers that turned into 37 Hampton points.
Rashad West led the Pirates with 21 points and Adrian Woodard and Donte Harrison each added 14.
