KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee sophomore Wayne Chism went from basketball practice to the hospital Tuesday to be evaluated for an unknown ailment, an athletic department spokesman said.
“He was taken from practice in an ambulance. That is all I know right now,” basketball spokesman Craig Pinkerton said.
Chism, one of four returning starters for Bruce Pearl’s Volunteers, suffers from asthma. Last season, the condition forced him to leave the bench for a few minutes during a game at Vanderbilt.
A member of the All-SEC freshman team, the Bolivar, Tenn., native led Tennessee with 5.2 rebounds a game last season and averaged nine points.
