KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tyler Smith scored 22 points to lead five Tennessee players in double figures, and the No. 11 Volunteers beat Louisiana-Lafayette 98-70 on Friday night for their 22nd straight home victory.
Jordan Howell added 17 points, JaJuan Smith 15 and Ramar Smith 14 for Tennessee (7-1), which earned its second straight win after losing to No. 8 Texas last Saturday. Duke Crews finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Tennessee built a double-digit lead six minutes in and maintained it the rest of the way, with the final margin representing their biggest lead. The Ragin’ Cajuns allowed the Vols to hit 53 percent of their shots from the floor.
Chris Gradnigo had 15 points and David Dees 14 for the Ragin’ Cajuns (1-4).
No. 13 Marquette 100, Wis.-Milwaukee 65
MILWAUKEE (AP) – Dominic James scored 22 points and backcourt mate Jerel McNeal added 16 to power Marquette to a rout of cross-town rival Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Lazar Hayward scored 19 points and David Cubillan 12 for the Golden Eagles (5-1), who looked sharp even though they had been idle since losing to Duke 77-73 on Nov. 21 in the Maui Invitational championship game.
Ricky Franklin scored 14 points and Deion James 10 for the Panthers (3-4), who played a ranked team for the first time this season. They’ve lost three straight and four of five.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee hung close early and managed to tie it at 13 with 12:35 left in the first half. But the Golden Eagles went into halftime on a 15-3 run to lead 50-33.
