EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -Drew Neitzel scored eight of 13 points in the first half, helping No. 11 Michigan State start strong in a 66-60 victory over Ohio State on Tuesday night.
The Spartans (15-2, 3-1 Big Ten) led by as many as 21 points in the first half and held off the Buckeyes in the second half in a bounceback game after being held to their lowest point total in more than a half-century in a 43-36 loss to Iowa.
Jamar Butler scored 21 points for Ohio State (12-5, 3-2).
Ohio State rallied to pull with 34-21 at halftime and started the second half with a 13-3 run to pull within three.
The Buckeyes have dropped two straight after winning eight in a row.
No. 17 Wisconsin 80, Penn St. 55
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) – Michael Flowers scored 23 points and Wisconsin extended its winning streak to eight games.
The Badgers (14-2, 4-0 Big Ten) ran out to a 20-4 lead as the Nittany Lions missed their first seven shots and never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Flowers was 9-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range.
Marcus Landry added 16 points and Brian Butch had nine points and 12 rebounds for Wisconsin, which won its seventh straight against Penn State (10-6, 2-2).
Senior forward Geary Claxton, the Nittany Lions’ leading scorer, limped off the court with about 13 minutes in the first half after hurting his left knee while going for a rebound. It was announced after the game he injured his anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the rest of the season.
Jamelle Cornley led Penn State with 13 points.
Boston College 76, No. 21 Miami 66
BOSTON (AP) – Tyrelle Blair had 11 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks and Rakim Sanders scored 20 points as Boston College registered its 13th consecutive victory over the Hurricanes.
Tyrese Rice had 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists to help BC (12-4, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat a ranked opponent for the first time since last February. The Eagles had lost two of three – a 25-point defeat to No. 3 Kansas and a 57-51 home loss to Robert Morris last Monday.
Jack McClinton scored 20 points on 6-for-26 shooting for Miami, which had won consecutive games since it lost to Winthrop on Dec. 29 to snap a season-opening 12-game winning streak. James Dews scored 15 points for the Hurricanes (14-2, 1-1), who would have tied the best start in school history with a win.
No. 24 Clemson 70, North Carolina St. 54
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – Terrence Oglesby had all his points on four 3-pointers for Clemson.
Oglesby, Cliff Hammonds and K.C. Rivers each had two 3-pointers in the run that turned a three-point game into a 32-21 lead the Tigers (14-3, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) would not give up.
Hammonds led Clemson with 14 points, while Trevor Booker had 13.
Courtney Fells had four 3-pointers and 19 points for the Wolfpack (11-5, 0-2), who lost 93-62 to No. 1 North Carolina to start the ACC season last Saturday.
Freshman J.J. Hickson, the Wolfpack’s top scorer at better than 16 points a game, was held to four points. North Carolina State had a season-high 23 turnovers.
