VCU picked to win a competitive Atlantic 10

NEW YORK (AP) – Virginia Commonwealth is the favorite to win the Atlantic 10 conference.
The Rams received all 28 first-place votes in the annual poll of the conference’s coaches and selected media, held in conjunction with media day Tuesday.
VCU also was the preseason choice last year before finishing 26-9 and 12-4 in the A-10 as the conference runners-up. George Washington is picked to finish second. Dayton, which made it all the way to the NCAA regional finals last season, is projected to finish third. Defending champion Saint Joseph’s came in eighth place.
The preseason all-conference team features VCU’s Treveon Graham and Briante Weber. Also on the team are Dayton guard Jordan Sibert, George Washington swingman Patricio Garino, Richmond guard Kendall Anthony and Saint Joseph’s DeAndre’ Bembry.
