CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Two Virginia basketball players have been suspended for the Cavaliers’ season-opener and two preseason scrimmages for violating team rules over the summer.
Coach Tony Bennett announced the suspensions of junior forward Evan Nolte and sophomore guard London Perrantes on Friday.
Nolte averaged 2.8 points off the bench last season and Perrantes averaged 5.5 points and a team-leading 3.8 assists.
The Cavaliers open the season at James Madison on Nov. 14. Both players are set to return against Norfolk State on Nov. 16.
No. 9 Virginia was 30-7 last season and reached the final 16 in the NCAA tournament.
