LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -Reggie Williams had 43 points and became the Big South Conference’s career scoring leader, helping high-scoring VMI to a 123-85 victory over Southern Virginia on Tuesday.
Williams was 19-of-22 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, giving him 2,234 points and surpassing Liberty’s Larry Blair for the top spot on the conference scoring list. The 19 field goals broke his own school record by one.
Willie Bell had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Keydets (8-6), who led 61-46 at halftime on the way to their fifth win in six games. Travis Holmes added 22 points off the bench.
It was the fifth time VMI has scored more than 100 points in a game, including a 156-91 rout of Columbia Union in late November.
Bryce Pendleton scored 13 to lead five players in double-figures for Southern Virginia (3-9). Tanner Johnson added 12, Chris Pendleton and Dele Opeifa had 11 each, and Cory Evans had 10.
