Bears in a funk
Baylor has lost its last two games coming into today and the Bears are just 1-6-2 against the spread in their last nine. Baylor is 19-11 on the season, 10-7 in the Big 12, 5-5 on the road, 15-13-2 against the spread and 15-14 with the over.
The Bears are a solid defensive team this season, giving up just 66.3 points per game while holding opponents to 41.8 percent shooting. Offensively, Baylor is averaging just 71.9 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent. Makai Mason is lading the team with 14.6 points per game while Mario Kegler is adding 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.
Jayhawks won’t win Big 12
For the first time since 2004, Kansas won’t win its conference championship in the regular season. The Jayhawks are coming off an 81-68 loss at Oklahoma and are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four. Kansas comes into today 22-8 overall, 11-6 in the Big 12, 15-0 at home, 13-17 against the spread and 18-11-1 with the over.
Kansas is putting up 75.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46.5 percent from the field. Defensively, the Jayhawks are giving up 70.1 points per game while holding opponents to 40.8 percent shooting. Lagerald Vick continues to be away from the team. He was averaging 14.1 points per game for them this season. Dedric Lawson is leading the team with 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Baylor
The Bears are 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine road games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss.
Kansas
Kansas has covered the spread in four straight home games, but is just 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 Saturday games.
Prediction:
The road team has had the edge in this series, as they are 21-7-1 ATS in the last 29 meetings. Baylor is 11-5-1 ATS in its last 17 trips to Kansas. The Bears gave Kansas a score in January in a 5-point loss at home, but they have covered in three straight road games against the Jayhawks and I think they will give Kansas a game today as well. The Jayhawks won’t feel like celebrating today knowing it ended its long conference title win streak. Kansas could be looking past Baylor to the postseason while the Bears are looking to add to their tournament resume.
College Basketball Prediction: Baylor +7.5
