Washington State Cougars
Washington State senior QB Gardner Minshew completed 39-of-51 passes for 323 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday’s 34-20 win over Oregon. The day in Pullman began in raucous fashion with College Gameday and it ended with Minshew playing up to the moment. Outside of a somewhat wobbly third quarter, he and his Cougar teammates were locked in throughout. He capped the game off with a 22-yard touchdown pass down the middle to Dezmon Patmon with just under four minutes remaining to put Wazzu up by 14 points, essentially icing any chance of a comeback barring strange happening. Minshew has now thrown at least three touchdown passes in every game this season save for one. The Cougars will look to improve to 7-1 on the campaign when they play Stanford next weekend.
Stanford Cardinal
Stanford senior RB Bryce Love (ankle) was taken to the medical tent in the second half of Thursday’s game against Arizona State. Love (5’10/202) has once again been dealing with ankle injury for much of the campaign, with the issue most recently flaring up after he had his leg rolled up in a loss to Notre Dame several weeks back. He subsequently sat out against Utah, then rested up on bye before starting Thursday’s contest. Now injured again. Look for Cameron Scarlett and Trevor Speights to see the bulk of the work for the remainder of the game unless Love manages to return late.
Betting Trends
Washington State
The over is 4-1 in the Cougars’ last five games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
Stanford
The over is 4-0 in the Cardinal’s last four games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
Prediction
The over has been a great play in WAZZU games. The over is 8-2 in the Cougars’ last eight games overall, is 17-5 in their last 22 road games, and is 6-2 in their last eight games coming off a win. On the other side, the over has cashed in six of the Cardinal’s last eight home games when playing an opponent with a winning road record.
