This will be the third game this season that LSU has faced a ranked opponent. The Tigers beat Oregon 40-27 in the season opener when the Ducks were ranked third. LSU then beat No. 25 Mississippi State last week by a score of 19-6. The Tigers rank 14th in the nation in scoring defense, as they have allowed just 12 points per game. On offense, the team has been led by running backs Spencer Ware and Michael Ford, who have combined for just under 450 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
West Virginia is 3-0 after beating Maryland 37-31 last week on the road. The Mountaineers have yet to face a ranked opponent this season. WVU is scoring 42 points per game, but most of its offense has come through the air. Known for years as a running team, WVU is averaging just 78.7 yards per game on the ground this season. Instead, they are passing for 356 yards per game, which ranks seventh in the country. Quarterback Geno Smith has thrown for 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.
In terms of Injuries, LSU tackle Chris Faulk is listed as questionable with a knee injury while WVU offensive lineman Josh Jenkins is out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
