According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Auburn is currently a 1.5-point favorite over Oregon in tonight’s BCS National Championship Game. The over/under total for this huge contest is currently sitting at 72.5 points.
If oddsmakers are correct, we should be in store for a shootout this evening. This matchup features two of college football’s best players in the Tigers’ Cam Newton and the Ducks’ LaMichael James.
Ironically though, the under is 4-1 in the Ducks’ last five bowl games and 4-1 in their last five games at a neutral site. The under is also 5-0 in the Tigers’ last five Monday games and 7-1 in their last eight bowl games.
That said, the over is 4-1 in Auburn’s last five games overall and 4-1 in Oregon’s last five non-conference games. It’s also 4-1 in Auburn’s last five games following a straight up win and 8-2 in Oregon’s last 10 games following an ATS win.
While looking trends that apply to the side, Oregon is 5-1 against the spread in its last six bowl games as an underdog, but the Ducks are 3-7 in their last 10 games against the number versus a team with a winning record. They’re 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games following an ATS win, however.
The Tigers are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games as a favorite of 0.5 to 3.0 points. They’re 4-1 ATS in their last five games on grass and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. That said, they are 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous contest.
Kickoff is scheduled tonight for 8:30PM ET live from University of Phoenix Stadium. ESPN will have the TV broadcast.
