College Football Week 9 Free Picks
(The Spread) – Check out which four teams made our top picks for Week 9 in college football.
We finished another week with a 2-2 record as Purdue won outright and Alabama took care of business against Tennessee, but Colorado was a no-show at home against Oregon and Arkansas was nearly beat on the road by Ole Miss. That runs our season record to 19-13 against the spread.

Central Michigan @ Akron, 12:0PM ET
The Chippewas certainly have enough offense to rout their MAC foes, but they’re averaging just 17.0 points per game on the road this season while allowing 37.0 PPG. They’re also 0-5 on the road this season where they’ve yet to cover. Don’t let Akron’s record fool you, at least not in this matchup. The Zips are 1-6 but three of those defeats came against Ohio State, Cincinnati and Temple. Akron is also getting healthier up front where a couple of offensive linemen will return from injury this week.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: AKRON ZIPS +7
Oklahoma @ Kansas State, 3:30PM ET
The Sooners certainly have the capabilities to destroy the Wildcats on their home turf. And seeing as how angry they might be following last week’s loss at home to Texas Tech, OU may roll today. But Kansas State has been good all season, both straight up and against the spread despite not getting any respect from oddsmakers. This is a game that the Wildcats could win outright so it’s an easy decision to take the points (in my eyes, at least). Don’t forget that the Sooners’ offensive struggles started a week before the loss to the Red Raiders. OU scored 47 points against Kansas but could have scored another 40 more if Landry Jones and Co. was more proficient in the red zone that night. I like the points.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: KANSAS STATE +13.5
Colorado @ Arizona State, 6:30PM ET
The Buffs have been outscored by an average of 26.5 points in their four road games this season and will likely start redshirt freshman Nick Hirschman if Tyler Hansen (concussion) isn’t cleared to play. The Sun Devils haven’t exactly lit the world on fire statistically speaking, but junior quarterback Brock Osweiler should take care of business at home. Last week I thought Colorado could hang with a banged up Oregon team at home, which I was wrong about. This week, I like them to get stomped in Sun Devil Stadium, where ASU is a perfect 4-0 this season.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: ARIZONA STATE –30.5
Clemson @ Georgia Tech, 8:00PM ET
According to latest college football trends, the Tigers are 5-2 against the spread in their last six road games against Georgia Tech while the road team is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these two teams. Clemson is also 4-0 ATS in its last four road games, 6-0 ATS in its last six games overall and 7-0 ATS in its last seven conference games. The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, are 0-3-1 ATS in its last four games overall and 0-4-1 ATS in its last five games in October.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: CLEMSON –3.5
