The issue wasn’t defense, as Texas held opponents to just 23.3 points per game, but the Longhorns struggled to score consistently, averaging 28.7 points per game. Malcolm Brown led the team this season in rushing with 707 yards and five touchdowns. As a team, Texas ranked 19th in the country in rushing with 210.4 yards per game.
Cal was 4-5 in the Pac-12 this season but the Bears finished strong, winning three of its final four games. The Golden Bears averaged 29.8 points per game on offense during the season while giving up 24.4 points per game on defense. The Cal offense has been led by running back Isi Sofele, who has rushed for 1,270 yards and nine touchdowns on the year.
In terms of Injuries, Texas safety Christian Scott is doubtful with a wrist injury while offensive lineman Sedrick Flowers is questionable with a shoulder injury. Cal receiver Michael Calvin is probable to play despite a leg injury.
