Florida Season Odds
GAINESVILLE, FL (The Spread) – The Florida Gators took a step back in the first year under Will Muschamp in 2011. Can the Gators bounce back in the 2012 College Football Season?

With Urban Meyer leaving Florida (an then quickly jumping to Ohio State a year later) the Gators turned to Muschamp to take over. What resulted was a disappointing 2011, which saw Florida go just 7-6, its lowest win total since the Ron Zook era.
This season, oddsmakers see a slight improvement for Florida, giving the Gators 12/1 odds to win the SEC Championship along with 3/1 odds to win the SEC East and 30/1 odds to win the BCS National Championship. The Gators have also been given an over/under of 8 wins for the season.
Florida has a total of 19 starters back this season, including 7 on offense. The Gators will have a new quarterback, but that might be a good thing, as the Gators struggled in the passing game all last year. Jeff Driskel is expected to start as a sophomore and he will have a full set of speedy receivers to work with, as well as an offensive line that has four starters returning.
Defensively, Florida hopes to be even better than the unit that allowed just 20 points and 300 yards per game last year. 10 starters are back, including the entire back 7. The Gators only allowed 167 passing yards per game last season, and the secondary should be even better this year.
When looking at the schedule, Florida has some tough games early, heading to Texas A&M and Tennessee in Week 2 & 3 respectively. Florida will also head to Florida State to close the year. Home games include LSU, South Carolina, and Missouri, along with the annual game with Georgia in Jacksonville. It would be hard to think a program like Florida would fail to win at least nine games for two straight years, but there is no proof that Muschamp can lead them to success as of yet.
