ATHENS, GA (The Spread) – No. 6 Georgia looks to start off the 2012 season on the right foot on Saturday as the Bulldogs host Buffalo at 12:21PM ET on the SEC Network.

Georgia is coming off a 10-4 season in which the Bulldogs won the SEC East. Buffalo is in its third year under coach Jeff Quinn. The Bulls have won just five games the last two seasons. This is the first meeting between the teams. Georgia is 14-1 in their last 15 home openers.
Trends show that Buffalo is just 1-7 against the spread in its last eight non-conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. Georgia is 8-3 against the point spread in its last 11 games as a favorite, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games.
Oddsmakers have made Georgia the favorite in this contest, giving them a point spread of -37.5 against Buffalo at home. The over/under total for the game has been set at 53 points (View Matchup). The point spread opened at Georgia -36.5 points and has steadily climbed its way up toe -37.5 over the week.
Georgia will be lead by quarterback Aaron Murray this year. Murray is a Heisman candidate after throwing for 3,149 yards and 35 TD’s in 2011. He will have his top two receiving targets back from last season and a number of running backs to work with. Defensively, Georgia returns 9 starters from a group that allowed just 20.6 points and 277 total yards per game last season.
Buffalo has 15 starters back in 2011. Leading the Bulls this year will be running back Branden Oliver, who rushed for 1,395 yards and 13 TD’s a season ago. He was the lone highlight of the Buffalo offense that averaged just 22.2 points per game. Oliver does have four of his five starting offensive linemen back as well. Defensively, Buffalo gave up just under 30 points and 400 yards per game in 2011. The Bulls play a 3-4 defense that allowed 181 rushing yards per game last season.
In terms of Injuries, Buffalo is injury free, but linebacker Khalil Mack is suspended for this game due to an altercation with a teammate. Georgia is also dealing with suspensions, as linebacker Alec Ogletree and safety Bacarri Rambo are both facing possibly missing this game due to a failed drug test.
The Public Bets show that the wagers are coming in strongly for Georgia. The Bulldogs are getting 82% of the wagers for this game with a point spread of -37.5 against Buffalo.
