There are just two games featuring top-25 opponents meeting up and both revolve around the state of Michigan. The featured game comes on Saturday night with No. 2 Alabama facing No. 8 Michigan from Cowboys Stadium at 8PM ET (View Matchup). According to oddsmakers, Alabama enters the game as a 12.5-point favorite over Michigan, while the over/under has been set at 45 points. Alabama is the defending national champion and has not lost a non-conference game since 2008. Michigan is coming off an 11-2 season in 2011. Michigan is 2-1 against Alabama, with all three previous meetings coming in bowl games. Michigan has explosive QB Denard Robinson, but Alabama has the size and speed that make it hard for anyone to see how the Wolverines will win.
The other game featuring top 25 teams has No. 13 Michigan State hosting No. 24 Boise State on Friday at 8PM ET (View Matchup). According to oddsmakers, Michigan State is a 6.5-point favorite at home against the Broncos, while the over/under total has been set at 45.5 points. Boise State lost a lot of talent from last year’s 12-1 team and MSU has one of the top defenses in the country coming into the season. The Spartans are working in a new quarterback in Andrew Maxwell, which could make this game a defensive battle.
