Michigan comes into the game 0-1 overall and 0-1 against the spread following a 41-14 loss to Alabama in Texas last week. Air Force is 1-0 overall and 0-1 against the spread after beating Idaho State 49-21. Michigan won the only previous meeting between these two teams.
Trends show that Michigan is 9-3-1 against the point spread odds in their last 13 non-conference games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games in September. Air Force is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games in September and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a win.
Oddsmakers see Michigan as the clear favorite in this game, as the Wolverines have point spread odds of -21 against Air Force at home. The over/under odds for this game have been set at 62 points. (View Matchup) The opening odds had Michigan favored by 21.5 points and the spread has since lost the hook and held firm at -21.
Michigan had high hopes to compete with the Crimson Tide last week, but the Wolverines were dominated from the start. Michigan’s high-profile offense amassed just 269 yards and had three turnovers, while the defense allowed 431 total yards and 232 rushing yards. Quarterback Denard Robinson had 200 yards through the air on just 11-of-26 passing. He also had two interceptions to just one TD. Robinson wasn’t much of a factor in the run game, as he had just 10 carries for 27 yards.
Air Force moved the ball with east against Idaho State, as the Falcons racked up 626 total yards, which included 484 rushing yards. Cody Getz led the way for Air Force as he rushed for 218 yards and three scored on 17 carries. Quarterback Connor Dietz rushed for 74 yards and a score and threw for 142 yards. The Air Force defense gave up 431 total yards to Idaho State, but most of the yardage came when the game was already out of hand.
In terms of Injuries, Michigan tackle Taylor Lewan is questionable for the game due to a leg injury while cornerback Blake Countess will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL last Saturday. Air Force defensive back Jay Fullam will be out for the rest of the season as well due to a shoulder injury.
