Clemson is coming off a 10-4 season in 2011, the best in 10 years. Coach Dabo Swinney seems to have the program on the right track. Clemson snapped a 14-game losing streak to Auburn last year with a 38-24 victory.
Trends show that Clemson is just 2-7 against the spread in its last 9 games at a neutral site while Auburn is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games at a neutral site. Auburn is also just 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games against ACC opponents.

Clemson has 14 starters back this season and the Tigers should be one of the top offenses in the country. Clemson averaged 33.6 points and 441 yards per game on offense last year. Tajh Boyd is back at quarterback after throwing for 3,828 yards and 13 TD’s. He also has his top receiver in Sammy Watkins back, along with top running back Andre Ellington back. Defensively, Clemson allowed 29.3 points per game last year. The back 7 of the defense has six starters back, which should help improve on its 218 passing yards allowed per game.
Auburn has six starters returning from an offense that averaged just 25.7 points and 338 yards per game. The Tigers have a new starting quarterback and tailback, but should be strong on the offensive line. Defensively, Auburn returns 9 starters, including the entire defensive line. The Tigers struggled against the run, giving up 189 yards per game in 2011, so the experience up front should help.
In terms of Injuries, Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins will miss the first two games due to a suspension while tackle Gifford Timothy is questionable with a knee injury. Auburn center Reese Dismukes is suspended for the game as well.
