The top game of the opening week has No. 3 Alabama taking on No. 20 Wisconsin on Saturday at 8PM ET on ABC from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. According to oddsmakers at the MGM Mirage in Las Vegas, Alabama is favored in the contest, as the Crimson Tide are getting odds of -10.5 points against the Badgers. The over/under total is currently listed at 50.5 points. These two have no recent meetings to go off of, but Alabama has had success against Big Ten opponents, going 4-1 against the spread against their last five from the conference. Wisconsin hasn’t been strong at a neutral site, going just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 at a neutral location.

The other big game of the opening weekend comes on Monday night when Virginia Tech plays host to top-ranked Ohio State at 8PM ET. Oddsmakers have the Buckeyes as a road favorite, giving them a spread -12 points against the Hokies. The over/under total for the game has been set at 54.5 points. These two met last season with Virginia Tech picking up a 35-21 win at Ohio State despite being a 10-point underdog. Ohio State has since covered the spread in its last 4 non-conference games and the Buckeyes are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 September games. Virginia Tech is just 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 September games.
