Akron vs. Oklahoma Odds
No. 19 Oklahoma is hoping to have an easy time in its season opener when it takes on Akron on Saturday at 7PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Oklahoma is favored to win this game, as the Sooners are getting odds of -31.5 points against the Zips. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 56.5 points. These two have no recent meetings to go off of.
Oklahoma is coming off an 8-5 season in 2014 with a 5-4 record in the Big 12. It was the worst record the Sooners have had since Bob Stoops took over the team in 1999. Oklahoma was also just 5-8 against the spread in 2014 while going 9-4 with the over. Stoops is entering his 17th season with the program. He has a 168-44 record in his time with Oklahoma and a 104-28 Big 12 record. Stoops will be looking to ride the legs of his stud running back, Samaje Perine, this year. Perine rushed for 1,713 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2014.
Akron is coming off a 5-7 record in 2014 with a 3-5 MAC record. The Zips were just 3-9 against the spread a year ago while going 8-4 with the under. Akron has failed to cover the spread in its last 4 road games as well. Terry Bowden is in his fourth season as head coach. He has gone 11-25 in his three years and 7-17 in the MAC. The Zips are coming off back-to-back 5-7 seasons. Bowden has a third-year starter at quarterback in Kyle Pohl, but he had just 9 TD passes in 2014 with 8 interceptions.
