According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Wolverines are 6.5-point favorites for today’s game after opening as a 4.5-point favorite. As for the total, the number opened at 45 before dropping to 44.5.
Michigan’s stout defense will provide a challenge for quarterback Tanner Mangum and running back Adam Hine, but both are talented enough to lead the Cougars to an outright victory. Since stepping in for the injured Taysom Hill, the freshman Mangum has completed 62.8 percent of his passes while throwing for 664 yards. Hine, meanwhile, has rushed for 279 yards and two touchdowns on 46 carries. No team has rushed for over 3.4 yards per carry against UM this season but today could be different.
There’s a quarterback controversy brewing in Ann Arbor as Jake Rudock continues to struggle. He’s thrown five interceptions in three starts and while Jim Harbaugh is serious about redshirting Shane Morris, he may have to reconsider if Rudock continues to struggle. He’ll face a BYU defense that intercepted talented UCLA freshman Josh Rosen three times last week and held him to 106 yards.
Take the points with the Cougars.
