According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hurricanes are 7-point road favorites versus the Bearcats after opening as 4.5-point favorites. As for the total, it opened at 66 and is now up to 70 points.
Miami enters play with a perfect 3-0 record and is 2-1 against the spread, while Cincinnati is 2-2 on the year and just 1-3 at the betting window. The Bearcats’ lone cover came last week when they fell to Memphis 53-46 as a 7.5-point underdog.
Miami is off to a 3-0 start, but the only quality team the Canes beat was Nebraska at home. They needed overtime to win that game as their defense collapsed late. They’ll need a much-stronger defense to face a high-powered Cincinnati team led by quarterback Hayden Moore, who replaces Gunner Kiel.
Moore threw for over 500 yards last week in their loss to Memphis, so he’s not a step down. He might be a step up. But Cincinnati’s defense is one of the worst in FBS. Expect Miami to run all over them on the road.
