The over/under total for the contest has been set at 50.5 points. LSU is 6-1 against the spread in its last 7 trips to Mississippi State and the two have hit the over in 9 of their last 11 meetings.

Mississippi State opened the season with a 34-16 win at Southern Miss last weekend. The Bulldogs were a 21-point favorite and didn’t cover and they also went under the 62-point total. Quarterback Dak Prescott had 237 passing yards with two touchdowns while also rushing for 72 yards and a score. Fred Ross added five receptions for 75 yards.

LSU was scheduled to face McNeese State last Saturday, but weather kept the game from ever getting underway. The Tigers are coming off an 8-5 season in 2014 with a 4-4 SEC record. It was LSU’s worst season since 2008. The Tigers were 8-5 against the spread a year ago and they went 8-5 with the under. Les Miles is entering his 11th season as head coach of LSU. Miles is hoping his offense will be strong enough to contend in the SEC this year. Running back Leonard Fournette could be one of the top backs in college this year. He rushed for 1,034 yards and 10 touchdowns as a freshman in 2014. LSU has a QB battle going on, but Brandon Harris has been named the starter over Anthony Jennings. Harris has 452 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions last season while Jennings threw for 1,611 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
