According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Baylor is the clear favorite on the road, as the Bears are getting odds of -36 points against SMU. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 73.5 points. These two met last season and Baylor picked up a 45-0 win at home.

Baylor is coming off an 11-2 season in 2014 where it was 8-1 in the Big 12 and won a share of its second straight conference title. The Bears felt they should have been in the playoffs, but were left out and ended up losing in the Cotton Bowl to Michigan State. The Bears were 7-5-1 against the spread last season while going 8-5 with the over. The Bears have hit the over in 12 of their last 14 non-conference games. Art Briles is entering his ninth season as head coach of Baylor. He is 55-34 in his time with the Bears. Look for Baylor and Briles to have another strong passing attack this year. Seth Russell takes over as the full-time starter after throwing for 804 yards with eight touchdowns in limited action last year.

SMU was 1-11 last season, losing coach June Jones early in the year. The Mustangs were 4-8 against the spread while going 8-4 with the over. SMU has failed to cover the spread in its last eight non-conference games. Chad Morris is taking over the program this year in his first season as a head coach. Morris is going with Matt Davis as his starting quarterback. Davis threw for 855 yards with three touchdowns and five interceptions in 2014 while splitting time with three other quarterbacks.
