2017 Heisman Trophy Betting Odds: Is USC’s Sam Darnold favored? 7/12/17

Updated Heisman Trophy Odds

Is USC quarterback Sam Darnold still favored to win the 2017 Heisman Trophy? Here’s a look at the latest odds.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Darnold remains the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at 15/4 odds. The redshirt sophomore threw for 2,881 yards and posted a 29-to-9 touchdown-to-interception ratio after taking over for the ineffective Max Browne in September last year. Darnold made USC must-watch television and it’s not surprising to see that he’s favored to win the Heisman this upcoming season.

Bet 2017 Heisman Trophy Odds

Who has the next-best odds to win the Heisman? They belong to Ohio State signal-caller JT Barrett, who is 9/1. The redshirt senior returned to Columbus, in part, because he wanted to improve his NFL draft stock. After completing 64.6% of his passes in 2014, his percentage dropped in each of the past two seasons, bottoming out at 61.5% in 2016. Still, he finished with 2,555 passing yards, 845 yards rushing and 33 total touchdowns. The Buckeyes are expected to compete for a national championship this season, which will only up Barrett’s Heisman profile.

Continuing with the odds, Louisville’s Lamar Jackson is 10/1 to win the Heisman for the second straight year, while Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, Washington’s Jake Browning, Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham, and Penn State’s Saquon Barkley is 12/1. Deondre Francois of Florida State, meanwhile, is 16/1 to take home the Heisman this season.

Other long-shots include Alabama’s Jalen Hurts at 20/1 and his teammate Bo Scarbrough at 22/1. Nick Chubb of Georgia is 24/1, while Josh Rosen of UCLA and Quinton Flowers of South Florida at 25/1, respectively. Mason Rudolph of Oklahoma State and Trace McSorley of Penn State are both 28/1, respectively.
