ACC Championship Game Miami vs. Clemson Predictions 12/2/17

ACC Championship Game Prediction

Will the Miami Hurricanes cover the point spread as a double-digit underdog tonight when they take on the Clemson Tigers in the ACC Championship Game at 8:00 p.m. ET?

ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Clemson. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are 10-point favorites to beat the Hurricanes, who opened as 6.5-point underdogs. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 48 but has been bet down a full two points to 46.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Miami. As of Saturday morning, the Hurricanes were receiving 53% of the tickets at the betting window to cover the point spread tonight.

HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: Clemson and the over. In the last four meetings between these two teams, the over hit all four times. And in the last five meetings, the Hurricanes are just 1-4 against the spread versus the Tigers.

WHO WE LIKE: Clemson. Miami seems to be worn down. This will be their 11th game in as many weeks, where as the Tigers were able to rest starters in the fourth quarter of their last two games. Clemson also had a bye week following its seventh game, so the Tigers are realtively rested compared to the Hurricanes.

Miami is also 1-5 against the number in its last six conference games, is 1-5 against the spread in its last six games played in December, and is 2-5 at the betting window in its last five games overall. This is a neutral site game, but the matchup is closer to Clemson than Miami and the Hurricanes have not played well on the road this season. In fact, Miami is just 1-6 against the spread in its last seven neutral site games.

Clemson is balanced offensively and suffocating on defense. Miami is inefficient on offense and reliant on turnovers defensively. I don’t like this matchup for the ‘Canes and if I were to predict one blowout for Championship Week, this would be it.
