Akron Zips Game Notes
Akron redshirt freshman QB Zach Gibson completed 18-of-30 passes for 218 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in Tuesday’s 24-10 loss to Ohio. Akron still have yet to figure out the QB situations. Even against an Ohio program setting up for a down year, Akron still looked massively outgunned. Gibson did get to above 7.0 yards per attempt this week, which is improvement, but he still coughed up two picks. The turnovers have to go if Akron are going to turn things around soon. Akron have to deal with Kent State next week.
Kent State Golden Flashes Game Notes
Kent State senior QB Dustin Crum completed 18-of-27 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns in Tuesday’s 62-24 win over Bowling Green. Crum’s debut a week ago was not quite up to par with his outrageous 2019 efficiency. This week, however, he played much more like the player everyone expected him to be. With 10 yards per carry and not a single interception, Crum was on fire, constantly marching up and down the field on Bowling Green. Granted, Bowling Green are awful and would let just about anyone outscore them, but Crum certainly made them look as bad as they are. Kent State will aim for a 3-0 start next week against Akron.
