Bama getting more practice?
As Alabama and Clemson approach the College Football Playoff Championship Game, one team may be able to prepare more than the other.
A minor technicality in the scheduling of the spring semester is allowing Alabama to get more practice time than Clemson for this game. Because Alabama doesn’t begin its spring semester until Jan. 13 (the title game is Jan. 11), the Tide have no restrictions on their practice time. Clemson’s spring semester begins on Wednesday, which means they are limited to four hours of meetings/practice starting then.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Alabama remains the favorite for this game, as the Tide are getting odds of -6.5 points against Clemson. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 51 points. These two meet on Monday at 8:30PM ET from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
This situation occurred last season as well, benefitting Ohio State while restricting Oregon, which ultimately led to a Buckeyes’ victory. Both sides admitted that the difference may have impacted the result of the game. Prior to the playoffs, this was never an issue as bowl games never went this deep into January.
