Alabama vs. Georgia Line Drops

With less than 24 hours now before kickoff of the National Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia, the spread has dropped slightly.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Alabama is now a 3.5-point favorite to knock off Georgia after the Bulldogs opened as a 4.5-point underdog. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 46 but has dropped to 45.5 at most sports books.

As of late Sunday night, public bettors were still taking Alabama and laying the points at a 64% clip. The money is also on the Crimson Tide at 60%, while ‘Bama was also receiving the most betting tickets on the money line as well (59%).

Alabama will be without a couple of key defenders including Shaun Dion Hamilton (knee, doubtful) and fellow linebacker Anfernee Jennings (knee, out). Lester Cotton Sr. is also out while Joshua Jacobs (hamstring) and Nigel KNott (undisclosed) are both questionable.

For Georgia, Jayson Stanley (disciplinary) is probable but Natrez Patrick (disciplinary) is questionable and Charlie Woerner (ankle) is doubtful.

The underdog is a perfect 4-0 against the spread in this series while the Bulldogs are 4-0 against the number in their last four bowl games. They’re also 4-0 at the betting window in their last four neutral site games and are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games when facing an opponent with a winning record. Georgia has covered in eight of its last 11 conference games as well.

On the other side, the Crimson Tide is 1-5 against the spread in its last six conference games, is 1-4 against the number in its last five games played in January and is 1-5 against the spread in its last six games after allowing less than 20 points in its previous game.
