According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Alabama is currently listed with 15/2 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Crimson Tide are also listed with odds of +250 to win the SEC Championship and Alabama has an over/under of 9.5 wins for the 2015 season.

Nick Saban is stepping into his ninth season as head coach of the Crimson Tide. Alabama has won at least 10 games in his last seven seasons as the coach, including a 12-2 record in 2014 that saw the Tide win another SEC Championship. However, Bama was beaten in the semifinals of the playoffs by Ohio State and the Tide have went the last two seasons without being the national champion.

Alabama had a strong defense in 2014, allowing just 18.4 points per game, while the offense put up 36.9 points per contest. The issue for Alabama last season was it wasn’t as strong and dominant on the line of scrimmage as it usually is. That could be improved this season. The question for Bama is at starting QB, where Jake Coker and David Cornwell are battling to replace Blake Sims, who threw for 3,487 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2014. The Tide should have another big force in the backfield in Derrick Henry, who rushed for 990 yards and 11 touchdowns last year. The team will have to find a replacement for Amari Cooper at WR. He had an unreal 2014 season, catching 124 passes for 1,727 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Alabama opens the season with another game at AT&T Stadium, as it faces Wisconsin. The Tide will also host Middle Tennessee, UL-Monroe and Charleston Southern in other non-conference games. SEC action includes home games with Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee and LSU. Road trips will be made to Georgia, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn. There likely isn’t a game where Bama will be the underdog this season, at least as of now. However, the Tide haven’t been able to run the table for a few years and this year could be more of the same.
