Arizona State Sun Devils Game Notes
Arizona State sophomore QB Jayden Daniels completed 21-of-35 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Saturday’s narrow 25-18 loss to UCLA. Daniels also waltzed in for a rushing touchdown, but alas, it was not enough to get by the Bruins in this one. Daniels (6’3/185) and the Sun Devils did start driving down the field late in the game to potentially tie things up, but couldn’t convert. A 3rd-and-11 turned into 4th-and-19 after a sack, which all but sealed the deal for Arizona State. Despite a stellar freshman season a year ago, Daniels has been real shaky in 2020. Maybe things can turn around against Arizona.
Arizona Wildcats Game Notes
Arizona sophomore QB Grant Gunnell (shouder) is uncertain to play against Arizona State on Friday. Gunnell (6’6/225) was injured on the first play of the game against UCLA, as a missed blocking assignment by the Wildcats gave a Bruin defender a clean shot at him. HC Kevin Sumlin said his status is still to be determined and that he has nothing new to report on the sophomore’s injury. Sumlin indicated the next two days will be critical to his availability and that Gunnell needs to practice in order to play. The Wildcats stand a much better chance of defeating ASU for the Territorial Cup on Friday if their starting signal caller is under center.
