Arizona State Sun Devils Game Notes
Arizona State junior RB Rachaad White is listed as the starter ahead of Saturday’s season opener at USC. White (6’2/195) was one of the best running backs in the junior college ranks last season, as he rushed for 1,264 yards and ten touchdowns with an average of nearly 115 yards per game at Mt. San Antonio College in California. Filling the void left by Eno Benjamin won’t be easy, but the Sun Devils won’t lack for options in the backfield. In addition to White, four-star recruits Daniyel Ngata and DeaMonte Trayanum will also have the opportunity to contribute early on.
USC Trojans Game Notes
USC senior RB Vavae Malepeai (knee) will be available to play in Saturday’s game against Arizona State. Malepeai (6’0/220) missed a significant portion of last season with a knee injury that required offseason surgery. The senior tailback had also been battling a hamstring injury in fall camp, but that ailment appears to be in his rearview mirror since he has been practicing all week. Last season Malepeai led the Trojans in both rushing yards (503) and rushing touchdowns (six), while averaging 4.8 yards per carry. He will join a committee backfield alongside Stephen Carr and Kenan Christon when USC faces Arizona State in their Pac-12 opener this Saturday.
Arizona State vs. USC Betting Prediction
Both of these teams should be able to put up points on Saturday. In fact, in the last seven meetings between these two programs, the over is 5-2. The over is also 4-1 in the Sun Devils’ last five conference games, is 4-1 in their last five games played in the month of November and is a perfect 6-0 in the Trojans’ last six games played overall. The over is also 5-0 in USC’s last five conference games and has cashed in seven of its last 10 games as a home favorite.
