Arizona Wildcats

Arizona enters this matchup coming off of a come-from-behind 22-10 victory over their FCS neighbor Northern Arizona. The Wildcats looked very shaky in this one, trailing 10-6 at the half. But they managed to turn it around in the 2nd half, with the defense shutting out NAU and the offense putting up 16 points. Star quarterback Noah Fifita only threw for 173 yards and had a touchdown and an interception. His favorite receiver Tetairoa McMillan had only 2 receptions for 11 yards. It was a big day for the run game though with Quali Conley rushing for 112 yards and Kedrick Reescano rushing for 71 yards on 6 carries. The defense allowed 198 total yards and forced a fumble to go along with 3 sacks. The Wildcats gave up 10 points to an FCS squad after allowing 39 points from New Mexico the week before.

Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State had their hands full as well for their week 2 matchup. They went to Tulane and managed to pull off a 34-27 victory after trailing 20-10 at the half. Avery Johnson threw for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns and DJ Giddens led the way on the ground with 114 rush yards. The defense allowed Tulane freshman QB Darian Mensah to throw for 342 yards and Makhi Hughes added 128 yards on the ground. They did step up with two huge plays late in the game, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and an interception on Tulane’s final drive to finish off the game.

Arizona vs. Kansas State Prediction

Take the over 59.5 on Friday night. These two teams have not looked great on the defensive side of the ball. Kansas State QB Avery Johnson is a dual threat with 7 of his 12 touchdowns last season coming on the ground. Arizona struggled against a similar QB in New Mexico’s Devon Dampier who tore them apart for 260 yards passing and a career high 130 yards rushing with 5 total touchdowns. On the opposite side, Kansas State just gave up 300+ yards to a freshman QB and Noah Fifita and the Arizona offense should be able to do much the same. Fifita threw for 422 yards and 4 touchdowns against New Mexico and after an off week against Northern Arizona, they will be looking to get back to it.

Arizona vs. Kansas State Prediction: Over 59.5 Total Points
