Arizona vs. Oregon Spread Prediction
The Oregon Ducks don’t have much time to lick their wounds following their loss in Pullman last Saturday night, as they’ll hit the road again this week when they take on the Arizona Wildcats. With kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET, will the home dog cover?
Game Snapshot
209 Oregon Ducks at 210 Arizona Wildcats
10:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, October 27, 2018
Arizona Stadium, Tucson, Arizona
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Ducks are 9.5-point favorites to beat the Wildcats. The total, meanwhile, sits at 65 points. As of this writing, 70% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Ducks.
Oregon Ducks
Oregon junior QB Justin Herbert completed 25-of-44 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 34-20 loss to Washington State. Herbert additionally notched an eight-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. He had several “wow” throws in this one — as he has in every game — but he was unable to finish off the comeback after the Ducks had pulled to within seven points midway through the fourth quarter. The junior gunslinger should be able to put up nice numbers against Arizona next weekend.
Arizona Wildcats
Arizona sophomore QB Rhett Rodriguez completed just 15-of-34 passes for 231 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday’s 31-30 loss at UCLA. Rodriguez was getting the starting nod in place of the injured Khalil Tate (ankle), and he was able to move the offense at times, but inaccuracy obviously killed him. The Wildcats posted 520 total yards, with 289 coming on the ground. If Tate is forced to miss more time it would be Rodriguez again taking the reins next weekend against an angry Oregon team in Tucson.
Betting Trends
Oregon
The Ducks are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games overall and 1-5 against the number in their last six road games.
Arizona
The Wildcats are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games.
Prediction
I don’t know how the Ducks are going to react here so I’m inclined to take the home dog. Oregon had its playoff hopes dashed a week ago in Pullman, one week after an emotional victory at home in overtime versus Washington. The Wildcats, meanwhile, out-gained UCLA 520-460 in their 1-point loss a week ago. While Arizona is not having a great first year under Kevin Sumlin, I think they get up for this one and Oregon could be vulnerable.
