Arkansas Razorbacks Game Notes

Arkansas redshirt sophomore QB KJ Jefferson (knee) completed 8-of-13 passes for 65 yards in Saturday’s 37-0 loss to Georgia. Jefferson was questionable to play after leaving last week’s win over Texas A&M with a knee injury. But not only was he able to play, early on the physicality of Jefferson’s running appeared to be a central tenant of how OC Kendal Briles planned to attack this nasty Georgia defense. But that didn’t work, and Jefferson took a few big hits, so the plan was abandoned (Jefferson finished with five rushing yards on eight carries). Unfortunately, Jefferson was also having issues hitting passes downfield this afternoon (or finding the time in the pocket to try). Once Georgia went up 34-0 with about 12 minutes left to play, Sam Pittman sent in Jefferson’s backup Malik Hornsby to mop up. The schedule doesn’t get easier for Arkansas with a trip to No. 12 Mississippi next Saturday.

Ole Miss Rebels Game Notes

ESPN Draft analyst Mel Kiper rates Ole Miss redshirt junior QB Matt Corral as the second best 2022 quarterback in the nation. Corral (6’1/205) completed 21-of-29 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 42-21 loss to Alabama. Though Ole Miss was clearly overmatched against the talent-laden Crimson Tide, Kiper cites Corral’s never-say-die attitude as being reason for optimism that he can perform at the next level. He was pressured on 11 of his 31 dropbacks in the contest, but still completed 72.4 percent of his passes without throwing an interception all season. His above average accuracy and velocity bodes well for the Ole Miss signal caller’s chances for a bounce-back this Saturday against Arkansas.

Ohio State vs. Minnesota Betting Prediction

The Razorbacks 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games versus the Rebels, while the underdog in this series is 9-1 against the number in the last 10 meetings. Arkansas has also cashed in four of its last five games overall, in 11 of its last 15 games as an underdog and in five of its last seven games as a road dog. On the other side, the Rebels are just 2-5 at the betting window in their last seven conference games.
