Army Black Knights Game Notes
Army sophomore FB Jakobi Buchanan RB had 22 carries for 80 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 31-16 win over Liberty. The Army run game continues to be one of the best in the country. Buchanan (6’0/260) was the lead runner today, and he’s been a touchdown machine as he has five in the last three games. He got it started early with a 19 yard run untouched. He was getting it done in open spaces, especially in the red zone, as the Black Knights went to him for the one-yard run. They continued with the triple option and kept the ball on the ground, and it worked as they were able to move the ball on Liberty pretty well. The Flames still had no answer to stop Army in the red zone, and the offensive line was able to push through easily, and Buchanan had his second touchdown from one-yard out. Army will get ready for their biggest game of the year, which of course, is one of the most anticipated games in College Football in their annual battle against Navy.
Navy Midshipmen Game Notes
Navy sophomore QB Tai Lavatai completed 5-of-11 passes for 57 yards and one touchdown in Saturday’s 38-14 win over Temple. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that Lavatai (6’2/210) would get involved in the scoring. With the game already well in hand, Lavatai connected with running back Chance Warren on a a four-yard touchdown pass to put Navy up 38-14. Lavatai also rushed 11 times for 23 yards on the day, as he finishes his season with 367 passing yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions, to go with 309 rushing yards and another five scores.
