Auburn Tigers Game Notes
Auburn sophomore QB Bo Nix completed 17-of-26 passes for 220 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 30-17 win over Tennessee on Saturday. It was far from a perfect game from Nix, but it was enough. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound quarterback struggled early — the whole Auburn offense did — and that led to an early 10-0 deficit. From that point on, however, it was all Tigers, and his 54-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Schwartz started the comeback. Nix was better in the previous two weeks, but against a Tennessee offense that did nothing for 45 minutes, he didn’t have to be at his best or close. He will have to be at that level next Saturday, however, when Auburn faces Alabama.
Alabama Crimson Tide Game Notes
For the second time this season Alabama HC Nick Saban has tested positive for COVID-19, the school announced Wednesday. Saban lucked out the first time around, as subsequent PCR tests ultimately came up negative and he was able to coach the Crimson Tide’s win over Georgia in mid-October. But unlike that occasion, in which Saban was asymptomatic, the coach is said to be experiencing mild symptoms. Saban is currently self-isolating, while the team continues to prepare for Saturday’s Iron Bowl matchup with Auburn.
