Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction

Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA

Auburn Tigers Game Notes

Auburn sophomore RB D.J. Williams rushed for 21 yards and a touchdown on eight carries in Saturday’s 29-13 win over Kentucky. Well, not much doing on the yardage front for Williams on Saturday. But the 5-foot-10, 210-pound sophomore found the end zone regardless, rocking a short touchdown plunge with a little under five minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers then went for the two-point conversion, pushing to an 8-7 advantage. The score would remain there all the way to halftime (though only just, as Roger McCreary would have had a 99-yard pick-six to close the second quarter had he not stepped out of bounds) before Auburn slowly began to outpace the Wildcats in the second half. Williams rushed for 400 yards and two touchdowns last season and was tagged by Rivals’ Mike Farrell as a potential breakout sophomore over the offseason. Shaun Shivers and Tank Bigsby are two other players to watch for carries coming out of this backfield. Auburn will square off with SEC big dawg Georgia next weekend.

Georgia Bulldogs Game Notes

Georgia redshirt sophomore QB JT Daniels (knee) is available to play in Saturday’s game vs. Auburn according to HC Kirby Smart. Daniels, whose 2019 season at USC came to an early end due to a torn ACL, was not cleared to play in the Bulldogs’ season opener against Arkansas. But he’s been deemed good to go for Georgia’s matchup with Auburn, which is good news for a team whose starter (D’Wan Mathis) struggled in the win over the Razorbacks. Stetson Bennett stepped forward in relief of Mathis and played well, so it’s possible that he get the call against Auburn. Daniels’ clearance gives Smart one more option from which to choose.

Auburn vs. Georgia Betting Prediction

The Tigers are winless against the spread in their last six meetings with the Bulldogs in Athens and are 1-6 against the number in their last seven games versus Georgia overall. The home team, meanwhile, has covered the spread in 10 of the last 14 meetings between these two teams while the favorite is 9-2 against the number in the last 11 meetings.
