Auburn Tigers Game Notes

Auburn sophomore QB Bo Nix completed just 24-of-47 passes for 272 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in a 30-22 loss on Saturday to South Carolina. Nix also ran for 69 yards. This Auburn offense may not be completely broken, but boy does it need fixing. Nix (6’2/207) has been erratic, with wavering accuracy and a glitchy decision-making process. To be fair, his offensive line has been terrible, often giving Nix little time go through his progressions. That offensive line has also given Nix happy feet. The 2-2 Tigers badly need a get-right performance next time around against Ole Miss. The Rebels’ defense is terrible, so Nix will at least have a chance to get back on track.

Ole Miss Rebels Game Notes

Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin said on Monday that the number of active COVID-19 cases within the team have increased in the three days since the Rebels’ loss at Arkansas. This isn’t a good situation for either Ole Miss or Arkansas, as one of the questions that scientists and medical professionals have attempted to answer re: COVID-19 is how long incubation periods can last for. Ole Miss was down two defensive starters (Tariqious Tisdale and Jakorey Hawkins) for Saturday’s game, and the roster could be even more depleted due to both more positive tests and contact tracing protocols. And on Monday Kiffin voiced his frustrations with the inconsistent way in which contact tracing is being handled. “Schools have different rules of saying ‘Oh, I think you were around that guy’ or ‘No you weren’t.’ I think in some cases School A is going to play a guy where in the exact same situation School B doesn’t. And that’s really frustrating,” Kiffin said. Ole Miss is scheduled to host Auburn this weekend.
