Is 15 points too much to lay on visiting Auburn when the Tigers visit Texas A&M this afternoon?

ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Auburn. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are now 15-point road favorites versus the Aggies, who opened as 12.5-point underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 54.5 but was bet down to 51.5 at the majority of online sportsbooks.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Texas A&M. As of Saturday morning, the Aggies were receiving 64% of the tickets wagered on today’s game.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: Conflicted. The underdog is a perfect 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams but the road team has covered in five straight as well.
WHO WE LIKE: Auburn. A&M is trending in the wrong direction. Last week the Aggies were fresh off their bye week and at home versus Mississippi State, who freaking rolled A&M 35-14. Yes, the Aggies do have a nasty pass-rush and yes, the Tigers have struggled to protect Jarrett Stidham at times this season. But the Aggies also have two major problems entering today’s game.
The first issues is that they’ve allowed 703 rushing yards in their last three games, yet have only rushed for 251 yards themselves. Do you know one way to slow down a ferocious pass-rush? Run the ball, which is just so happens to be Gus Malzahn’s bread and butter on offense (although the Tigers are more balanced this season).
The other issue for A&M is at quarterback, where Kevin Sumlin may choose to go back to Starkel over mistake-prone freshman Kellen Mond. Starkel did lead A&M on a touchdown drive late last week in garage time, but that was after the Bulldogs were ahead 35-7 in the fourth quarter.
I don’t feel great laying 15 points on a Kyle Field visitor, but the Aggies are 3-12 against the spread in their last five seasons in November. Sumlin’s teams have a tendency to wilt as soon as the calendar hits the 11th month.
