Baylor Bears Game Notes
Baylor senior QB Charlie Brewer completed 31-of-39 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing 23 times for 56 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 32-31 win over Kansas State. The Baylor Bears were trailing for basically all of this game. With Baylor’s running backs providing nothing of value, the burden of both the run and pass game was all on Brewer’s shoulders. Slowly but surely, Brewer clawed the team back into the game in the second half. Most of his rushing production was in the red zone, but between the 20s, Brewer came alive in the fourth quarter as he started pressing down the field out of necessity. Brewer clearly has the arm talent to attack down the field and it finally showed as the game started to close out. Baylor escape with their second win of the year and have Oklahoma on deck for next week.
Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes
Oklahoma sophomore TE Austin Stogner (leg) is likely out against Baylor this Saturday. Stogner (6’6/241) had been enjoying a breakout season, catching 25 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns through seven games until he suffered a leg injury against Kansas on November 7. HC Lincoln Riley is notoriously tight-lipped about injuries, but quarterback Spencer Rattler indicated Stogner is out in a recent interview with SI.com. Brayden Willis and Jeremiah Hall will continue to handle tight end duties in his absence.
