Baylor senior QB Charlie Brewer completed 23-of-38 passes for 229 yards, three touchdowns and two interception in a 27-21 OT loss to West Virginia on Saturday.Brewer continues to acclimate to life under a new head coach and offensive coordinator without the services of the departed JaMycal Hasty and Denzel Mims. Considering he’s played Kansas and WVU so far, it’s noteworthy that Brewer is averaging nearly two yards per attempt fewer than he did last year. Brewer’s interceptions hurt; his second, in 2OT, sealed Baylor’s fate.
Texas Longhorns Game Notes
Nick Bromberg of Yahoo Sports writes that Texas HC Tom Herman has some of his staffers “scouring” Baylor online message boards ahead of their game this week. Herman’s idea is that if there is any injury news or minor advantage to be found, the internet will have it. And he may not be wrong. “If they’re anything like [our fans], if a guy sprains an ankle in practice, the sky is falling.” Herman then added that there is the extra task of sorting out which potential injuries are real and serious versus those that aren’t, but the HC seems hell bent on finding any minor advantage he can. With the way Texas is playing this season, it is hard to blame Herman for exploring every possible avenue.
Baylor vs. Texas Betting Prediction
The under is a perfect 7-0 in the last seven meetings between these two teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Austin. The under is also 3-0-1 in the Bears’ last four games overall, is 4-1 in their last five games as an underdog and is 5-0-1 in their last six games coming off a loss. Given the fact that Baylor hasn’t played in a couple of weeks, I don’t see how its offense will be firing on all cylinders come Saturday afternoon. The total has already dropped from 64 down to 61 at most books so I’d jump on the under now if you like the play.
