Favored by a full touchdown, is Virginia Tech a good bet to cover against Arkansas in the Belk Bowl today at 5:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hokies are now 7-point favorites over the Razorbacks while the over/under currently sits at 59.5 points. Virginia Tech opened as a 6-point favorite when the bowl lines were first released, while the total hit the board at 62 before dropping to 59.5.

ARKANSAS KEY TRENDS: The Razorbacks are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games coming off a loss and are 5-1 against the number in their last six games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous contest. They’re also 7-2 at the betting window in their last nine games following an ATS loss but have failed to cover in eight of their last 11 neutral site games.
VIRGINIA TECH KEY TRENDS: The Hokies are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and are 4-1 against the number in their last five games coming off a loss. That said, they’re 3-7-1 at the betting window in their last 11 neutral site games, are 2-9 against the number in their last 11 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game, and have failed to cover in five of their last six games versus SEC opponents.

OUR PREDICTION: I don’t trust Arkansas’ defense, especially with Jerod Evans, Travon McMillian and Cam Phillips coming off big games in the ACC title game. The Razorbacks rank 77th in the nation in total yards allowed, are 95th in rushing yards allowed, and 83rd in points allowed while surrendering 30.8 points per game on the year. Granted, Anthony Allen and that Arkansas rushing attack will be a challenge, but VA Tech is 19th in total yards allowed, 22nd in passing yards allowed, 44th in rushing yards allowed and 28th in points allowed (22.7). As long as the Hokies are motivated, they should win by a touchdown-plus.
