Big 12 Championship Game Prediction
Will the TCU Horned Frogs avenge one of their losses during the regular season on Saturday when they take on the Oklahoma Sooners at 12:30 p.m. ET in the Big 12 Championship Game?
ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Oklahoma. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Sooners are 7-point favorites to knock off the Horned Frogs, who opened as 6.5-point underdogs. As for the total, the number currently sits at 64 points after hitting the board at 61.5.
Bet the Big 12 Championship Game
THE PUBLIC LIKES: Oklahoma. As of this writing, 65% of the betting tickets are on the Sooners to cover as a favorite.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The under. In the last six meetings between these two teams, the under has cashed eight times, including in the first meeting between these two teams during the regular season.
WHO WE LIKE: Oklahoma. Backers of TCU will point out that the Horned Frogs held the Sooners scoreless in the second half of the first meeting between these two teams. That’s true, but those same people fail to point out that the Frogs offense could only muster six points in the final 30 minutes.
Kenny Hill has been inconsistent all season and while I trust Gary Patterson’s defense not to allow 38 points to Oklahoma in the first half again, I don’t trust the TCU offense to hang with Baker Mayfield if he gets the Sooners offense rolling. I think this game is close at halftime but OU eventaully pulls away in the second half.
The Sooners are 4-1 against the spread in their last five conference games, are 4-1 against the number in their last five games overall and are 16-5 at the betting window in their last 21 games when playing an opponent with a winning record. On the other side, the Horned Frogs are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games versus a team with a winning record and have failed to cover in eight of their last 10 neutral site games.
