NEW YORK (The Spread) – Two physical football teams will meet up at Yankee Stadium for today’s Pinstripe Bowl at 4:30PM ET, as Boston College meets up with Penn State.

Penn State went 6-6 this season overall and just 2-6 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions ended the season with losses to Illinois and Michigan State. Penn State went just 5-6-1 against the spread on the year and finishing the season 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games. Penn State has hit the under in five of their last eight.

Boston College went 7-5 this season and 4-4 in the ACC. The Eagles ended their regular season with a 28-7 win over Syracuse. Three of BC’s losses this season came by 4 points or less. The Eagles were 8-4 against the spread this year, covering the spread in three of their last four while hitting the under in six of their last eight.

According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Boston College is a slim favorite, as the Eagles are getting odds of -2.5 points against Penn State today. The over/under total for the game has been set at 40 points (View Matchup). These two haven’t met since 2004, but Boston College has won three straight against Penn State and covered in four straight meetings.

This game features two strong defenses facing two rather weak offenses. Penn State’s defense is really strong, as it is holding opponents to just 269.8 yards per game. BC bring a strong run game on offense, led by quarterback Tyler Murphy, who has rushed for 1,079 yards and 10 scores while throwing for 1,526 yards and 11 scores. The Penn State offense has been very poor, averaging just 325.5 yards per game and it faces a BC defense that is giving up only 312.8 yards per game.
