Bowling Green vs. Kent State Predictions Against the Spread 10/31/17

Bowling Green vs. Kent St Prediction

Will Kent State pull off the small upset tonight when it hosts Bowling Green at 8:00PM ET in “MACtion” play?

ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Bowling Green. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Falcons opened as a 1-point road favorite versus the Golden Flashes but the line has climbed to 3 points. As for the betting total, the number hit the board at 51 but has dropped to 49.5 at the majority of sports books.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Bowling Green. Public bettors are all over the visiting Falcons in this matchup, backing Bowling Green at a 74% clip. This is somewhat surprising given how the Falcons are both 1-7 straight up and 1-7 at the betting window, although the Golden Flashes haven’t been much better this season (2-6 SU, 3-5 ATS).

HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The road team and the underdog, so there’s nothing to take away from the trends. The road team has covered in four of the last five meetings between these two teams, which benefits Bowling Green backers, but the underdog has cashed in 15 of the last 21 meetings, which supports taking the points with Kent State.

WHO WE LIKE: Kent State. The Golden Flashes were waxed in Ohio last week, losing 48-3 as a 17-point underdog versus the Bobcats. That said, they hung with Northern Illinois as a 23-point road dog three weeks ago and pulled off the outright upset versus Miami-OH as an 8.5-point dog two weeks ago. Bowling Green has dominated Kent State in previous seasons but the Falcons are a nightmare defensively this year. They rank 127th in the nation in total yards allowed, 111th in passing yards surrendered, 127th in rushing yards, and 120th in points allowed, giving up 37.8 points per game. Kent State sucks, but they’re at home, getting points and playing a defense that couldn’t stop a nosebleed. I’ll take the dog.
